Take the ARCF Holiday Charity Challenge on #GivingTuesday

Giving Tuesday

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, most of us have our minds clearly focused on a great meal with family and friends – and many of us are thinking ahead to all the holiday shopping we’ll soon be doing too.

As we get into the spirit of giving, we’re hoping all of you will consider how you can give back to your profession as well by contributing to the American Respiratory Care Foundation (ARCF). Tuesday, November 29, has been dubbed #GivingTuesday to encourage people around the world to donate to the worthy causes in their lives, and for respiratory therapists there can be no worthier cause than the Foundation that supports the scholarship and research so vital to the advancement of their profession.

We’re kicking off our end-of-year campaign for the ARCF on #GivingTuesday so visit our #GivingTuesday @ ARCF webpage and contribute what you can to help the ARCF reach their $5,000 fundraising goal and watch our Giving Tower grow with each donation. Donations small and large are equally appreciated by your Foundation.

Why should you support the ARCF?

This quick look at the three-pronged approach the Foundation takes to advancing your profession has the answer —

Grants, Awards, and Fellowships: Everyone from students enrolled in accredited RT programs to seasoned researchers conducting the studies that will make a difference in how we all care for our patients can apply for Foundation funding, and our Achievement Awards honor those who have already gone above and beyond.

Respiratory Care Jounal Conferences: Held on a regular basis to bring thought-leaders in the profession together to delve into areas of concern or controversy, these conferences have a major impact on care delivered at the bedside. Results are published in Respiratory Care and serve as guidance for RTs and other health care providers worldwide.

International Activities: Established in 1990, the International Fellowship Program opens up the lines of communication between American RTs and their colleagues from abroad by bringing leaders in respiratory care from other nations to our shores to visit health care facilities and attend the AARC Congress. The Foundation’s International Endowment Fund is designed to support projects and programs that enhance the internationalization of respiratory care.

Donate to your Foundation today to help the ARCF’s Holiday Giving Tower grow towards its $5,000 goal! And then spread the word with all your friends on social media and encourage them to get involved too!

Giving back to the ARCF took center stage at the recent AARC Congress as well, as the AARC and country and western star Billy Dawson raffled off a great Nashville Experience Package to raise money for the Foundation. Melissa Schwendiman, RRT, from St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA, came out on top and will soon be winging her way to Nashville for two great days with Billy and his band.
