Good Press AARC September

Jennifer De La Garza, clinical coordinator and faculty member at El Centro, along with Chandi Idicula, program coordinator, are helping “DCCCD respiratory care students learn how to help patients breathe easy.” Check out their story in the North Texas e-News.

Melissa Williams, a respiratory therapist at Propeller, was featured in an article from CityLab that discussed a program in Louisville that uses GPS to evaluate and control asthma. Propeller is using devices attached to inhalers to not only receive notifications about poor air quality days, but the data also helps “patients predict asthma patterns by showing them when and where attacks cropped up.”

Michelle Vermeland, RRT, a respiratory therapist at Edward Hospital, took part this year’s Camp Breathe Easy, a program at the hospital that runs each summer for children with asthma. This was Vermeland’s first year to help with the camp, and she’s already planning for the next camp. Read the story in the Chicago Tribune.
