PLATTSBURGH, NEW YORK: Monaghan Medical Corporation is pleased to announce their sponsorship of the Peak Performance USA program by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).  This program aims to disseminate asthma education materials and instruction to school nurses, administrators and staff in order to help them enable their students to better manage their disease.  Children are very much affected by asthma, “Nine million children have asthma and 14.7 million school days are missed annually due to the condition” says AARC Director of Business Development Dale L. Griffiths.

Peak Performance USA program is a free program designed for AARC member respiratory therapists who are interested in working with their local schools and their staff to educate them about asthma.

 Some objectives of the program are: 

• Increase awareness of asthma
• Increase awareness of signs and symptoms of the disease
• Improve knowledge, attitudes and skills of educational workers about detection, treatment and control of asthma
• Reduce school absences due to asthma
• Help the student maintain a healthy lifestyle
