PLATTSBURGH, NEW YORK:  Monaghan Medical Corporation (the “Company”), a leader in the development and manufacture of aerosol drug delivery devices and asthma management products is pleased to announce that all of its AeroChamber Plus® Flow-Vu® and Z Stat® branded anti-static Valved Holding Chambers (aVHC) are Bisphenol A (BPA) free.  In addition to being BPA free, the product line is still free from Phthalates, Latex, Lead and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and features enhancements such as the easier to see Flow-Vu® Indicator – an important feedback tool for parents and caregivers to assure them that inhalation of the medication is performed correctly. The AeroChamber Plus® Flow-Vu® and Z Stat® aVHC Chambers are consumer friendly with a compact size for people on the go, visually appealing graphics and simplified user instructions.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical additive that increases durability and clarity in some plastic products; however BPA has been reported to be a hormone-disrupting chemical that can block and/or disrupt normal body functions.   Other health concerns related to BPA include damage in brain development, reproductive development, reproduction and conception, miscarriage and Down’s syndrome, heart disease, diabetes and obesity, cancer, behavioral impact in young children and male virility.  Particular concerns have risen over exposure to even low levels of BPA among pregnant women, babies and children. 

Due to these negative health concerns certain states, including New York, Vermont, Maryland, Minnesota, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Washington have instituted BPA bans.  In addition to these state specific bans, some cities and counties have also banned BPA and products containing BPA.   In particular, Chicago, Illinois was the first American city to ban BPA and specifically it banned BPA from sippy cups and baby bottles and required that stores post signs indicating that products are BPA-free.
